Proper Installation And Removal Of An Auto Seat
When most people consider buying a car, truck, or
van, how easy or difficult it would be to remove or
install a seat is not uppermost in their minds.
However, in certain circumstances, it is important
to have some idea on how to handle proper
installation and removal of an auto seat.
The most common reason to need to add or remove a
seat in a vehicle is someone who drives a van that
carries passengers or can be converted to carry
cargo. The seats, other than the driver's seat and
front passenger's seat, are usually constructed so
that a simple latch is all that holds them in place.
Opening the latch allows for quick removal and
closing it allows for secure installation.
There are other rare occurrences where one might
consider removing or replacing a seat. For example,
if one has very old, worn, or damaged upholstery,
he/she might want to take the seat(s) out of the
vehicle to have them recovered. Then, they would
need to know how to reinstall the seats after having
the work done.
The best place to find information on proper removal
or installation of an auto seat is in the owner's
manual for that vehicle. Knowing the proper
techniques and tools involved is essential to
restoring the car to a safe condition for normal
operating.
